Aligner Treatment
Removable aligner treatment is an orthodontic technique which takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created specifically for you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements that Dr. Korne plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten.
You just insert a new set of aligners every week until your treatment is complete. You’ll achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.

Dr. Korne’s Removable Aligner Process
Dr. Korne begins the process with a thorough clinical examination, using digital x-rays and photos to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for removable aligner treatment. Instead of traditional dental impressions, Dr. Korne uses the latest Dexis intra-oral scanner to obtain a 3- dimensional fingerprint of the teeth. The digital movement “set-up” is then handled by Spark’s digital software.
Spark’s digital software is like the DNA of the treatment: it enables Dr. Korne to determine the programmed movement of the teeth from start to finish. Dr. Korne uses his knowledge and experience to move your teeth into an aesthetic, functional and stable position based on your individual situation. It is because of the proper manipulation of this software that Dr. Korne is able to achieve excellent results with Invisalign.
After the digital set-up is approved, the aligners are manufactured and delivered. You will be given clear instructions on how to wear the aligners and will be seen every 6-12 weeks to monitor tooth movement. At the end of treatment, Dr. Korne will provide retainers to stabilize the teeth so that the surrounding bone and soft tissues can conform to the new alignment.

Aligner Chewies Instructions
What are ‘Chewies’?
Chewies are small, soft, cylinder-shaped devices made of foam designed to ensure a snug fit of your aligners on your teeth. It is important to have a snug fit of the aligners to properly move the teeth according to the digital plan set up by Dr. Korne. They also assist in applying pressure to your teeth to move them gradually into their desired positions.
How/when should chewies be used?
To use chewies effectively, simply bite down on a chewie for about 5 to 10 minutes each day. Make sure to move it around your mouth, especially in areas where you notice gaps between the edges of your teeth and the aligners. These gaps are signs that the aligners aren’t fitting snugly against your teeth.
Are chewies a necessary part of your aligner treatment?
Chewies are especially important when you are adjusting to a new set of aligners and regular use of chewies can help reduce your overall treatment time.
How do you care for chewies?
It’s crucial to keep them clean. After each use, rinse them with warm water and mild, soapy water to remove any residue or bacteria.
Over time, they may lose their shape and elasticity, reducing their effectiveness. Therefore, it’s essential to monitor their condition regularly. If you notice any signs of wear or damage, it’s time to replace them.
